GPPA
Endorses the Psychiatrists Program
Preferred Medical Malpractice Insurance Program For Members
Reprinted from GPPA Update
Atlanta,
GA (August 7, 2001) -- During the August 2001 Georgia Psychiatric
Physicians Association (GPPA) Summer Meeting in Destin, Fl.,
the GPPA board voted to collaborate with The Psychiatrists
Program, the APA-Endorsed Professional Liability Insurance
Program (The Program).
Dr. Stephen
Preas, GPPA president, stated, "In recognition of the
predicted hardening medical malpractice market in Georgia,
the GPPA leadership felt that endorsing and partnering with
The Program, a stable and financially secure program providing
APA members coverage since 1984, would be advantageous for
the membership. The staff of the Psychiatrists Program
has unparalleled psychiatric malpractice expertise to help
GPPA members best protect their practices from potential liability.
The Programs policy is tailored to the practice of psychiatry
and includes coverage not usually found in an all specialty
policy. Additionally, premiums are favorably priced in Georgia
with a variety of available discounts."
The Program
will provide an unrestricted educational grant to support
the goals and activities of GPPA. Additionally, The Program
will share its psychiatric medical malpractice expertise by
providing faculty for a risk management seminar, articles
on current liability issues and trends, and risk management
tip sheets.
Some of
the many benefits of The Program include:
·
Carriers rated A+ by A.M. Best
· Endorsement by the Georgia Psychiatric Physicians
Association and the American Psychiatric Association
· Sponsorship by the Psychiatrists Purchasing
Group, Inc., a board of five APA member psychiatrists
· Risk management services and materials specific to
psychiatry, including the toll-free Risk Management Consultation
Service Helpline
· Discounts for members-in-training, child and adolescent
psychiatrists, and risk management education
· Administrative defense benefits included
