HIPAA
Update for Program Participants:
Business Associate Agreement with PRMS
Under
HIPAA, psychiatrists may disclose protected patient health
information to obtain and maintain professional liability
insurance benefits. The HIPAA Privacy Rule requires that such
disclosures must be done after a Business Associate Agreement
(BAA) between the health care provider and the company is
in place.
As another
benefit of your participation, it is not necessary to develop
a BAA for use with PRMS, the manager of The Psychiatrists
Program. A signed BAA has been sent to you. The BAA sets out
how we will safeguard protected health information that is
disclosed by you for the purpose of obtaining or maintaining
medical liability coverage or for the purpose of obtaining
benefits from such insurance.
We value
your participation in The Program and have provided additional
information about the HIPAA Privacy Rule in our Online
Education Center (For Participants Only section, must
login).
