Early Career Psychiatrists
Choosing a malpractice insurance policy is one of the first - and most important - decisions you will face in your career. We understand the needs of early career psychiatrists and provide specialized services that ease the transition from residency to entering a practice. Discounts are as follows:
- First year of practice: immediately following completion of residency, fellowship or active discharge from military
- 60% discount on occurrence policies ( 50% discount in New York *)
- 60% discount on claims-made policies in California, Florida and Washington
- 50% discount on claims-made policies in all other states - Second year of practice:
- 40% discount on occurrence policies (discount unavailable in New York for occurrence policies*)
- 40% discount on claims-made policies in California, Florida and Washington
- 25% discount on claims-made policies in all other states (including New York) - Third year of practice:
- 35% discount on occurrence policies (discount unavailable in New York for occurrence policies*)
- 35% discount on claims-made policies in California, Florida and Washington
- 25% discount on claims-made policies in all other states (including New York)

In addition to the early career premium discount, if you are a child and adolescent psychiatrist and meet specific criteria, you are eligible for a 15% rate reduction.* Additionally The Program offers the same discounts to psychiatrists following discharge from active military duty.**
