MilliSoft BBC iPlayer Add-In Screenshot

This news will probably excite those living in the UK more than anybody else, but Martin Millmore (aka MilliSoft) has just announced the availability of his new BBC iPlayer VMC Add-In that’s essentially a hack that scrapes the iPlayer website to grab data and transform it into something that media center can use for navigation and playback. Martin notes that the same procedure was recently used for the PS3 after BBC recently enabled the iPlayer for the Wii. [via]

Wasting no time from the recent addition of the “Instant Queue” at Netflix, Anthony Park has added the feature to his popular MyNetflix Add-In. He says: “Now in MyNetflix, you can perform the normal queue operations on your instant queue (add, remove, move to top). However, the way that I anticipate people will use this feature is to add movies to your instant queue on your PC/laptop, and then select movies for viewing from your instant queue on your Media Center PC.” [via]

Watch Online Video Streams in Windows Media Center with MyTV Add-In

MyTV ScreenshotI was just browsing through The Green Button forums and found a posting on a new Windows Media Center Add-In called MyTV that, supposedly, allows users to add online video stream channels (examples: MTV Overdrive, Showtime Interactive, Comedy Central MotherLoad, VH1 VSPOT) to a custom programming guide with playback capabilities. The confusing part is that it seems like you need to configure the channels through the developer’s website after you register and then download/install the MCL file to your PC to access the content and your account settings. Also, it appears, that once your account is created you can create custom channel categories and even add RSS feeds from your favorite video podcasts. If MyTV works as advertised, it’s seems like a worthwhile download.

mcShoutCast Add-In for Windows Vista Media Center

mcShoutCast Screenshot

I am huge fan of the ShoutCast Internet radio directory (I tap in daily). Being the case, I am floored by the slick and accessible interface the German developer behind mcShoutCast has created. Gone are the boring browser lists we are all accustom to navigating. The MCML driven interface provides users with a bevy of features we all expect (and some neat advanced ones like stream recording and station logo presets), but in a more visually compelling living room friendly 10-foot experience.
